Definitely a solid start. I like the way you allow the rules of the magic to blend into the background of the story naturally rather than trying to force in explanations where they don't make sense. The premise leaves plenty of room for fun while still showing that Brianna doesn't intend to inflict permanent harm on Mike; it's a good way to give the characters some realistic texture, rather than everyone just trying to overpower their peers all the time without consequence. If I could make a critique, I'd say right now the narration is playing up the "domination" and "obedience" things harder than it needs to. Show us those things rather than stating it explicitly, so that it comes off more as a trait of the characters rather than something we're told is there.
