Upset by the fact that her best friend was about t be slaughtered, Jessica grabbed the man's neck with both hands, lifted him two feet in the air and crushed his windpipe with her full strength. The man fell to the floor dead. The townspeople were scared shitless, so they decided to leave the town as pariahs, rather than heroes.

Ok, a little morbid, but that's (the closest thing this story can have to) a realistic ending for this situation. I think I'll like your ending better.
