Good story! I hope you get back to this someday. You have so many unfinished stories that I would love see continued. With this one, you could maybe timeskip to different points in their lives as a relationship develops. The only critique I have of all your stories is frequent mispelling of words.

I don't know why, but somehow in my mind I keep imagining that the creatures from the rift are just like the ones in The Mist (stephen king). I wonder if they escaped an opened rift portal like this one...

Well I was inspired by Gold Digger by Fred Perry and the outer planes. That said a rift beast that managed to get into our world would be quite a problem.

Sweet,its really touching. There's a child like innocence to the pair that could blossom into something bigger as they get older. I really like this.

Thanks. They are children after all so they're going to be a bit innocent. Though I imagine Claire has seen, done and learned some things that have caused her to learn some things a bit early. After all she is a monster hunter and eater.
