Author's Response: That's a question of anyone in the military who makes the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefield. And, I don't think there's any clear-cut answer. As for how I pictured Randy in my mind's eye? Imagine if Art Hindle had played "Dan Weaver" on FALLING SKIES, instead of Will Patton.
