Wild guess: they plan to shoot the shrink ray at Julia by riccocheting it off of a mirror. Sort of like the Sargasso Sea laser cannon from the original JONNY QUEST pilot.

Author's Response:

Now there's a connection I wouldn't have imagined could've been made to this story, yet there it is.

Not sure about what's the new survival plan and even less sure about their confidence on winning it. Julia may notice that they were tampering the PMRD device and set a trap for a possible uncoming trip.

Although, I expect hits on either sides. I don't know who would finally win in this cat-mouse fight but it seems to me that everybody will loose (something).

Expectant. You've built such a masterpiece along the 70 chapters, thank you for taking this story so seriously. I'm enjoying it.

Author's Response:

There's definitely both good and bad still to come for these characters before the story ends. What order that happens in will be shown soon. :)

I have two ideas for the plan, the first if successful will save them all, the second might too but they'd have more work to do.

Great stuff and can't wait to read more.

Reading smoki's review gave me an idea, so I'm going to make a prediction: They'll rig the PMRD to shrink Julia when she uses it, but she'll grow instead. This is partly based on a comment in Shrink Act Files, that there was a lot of her to cover up.

Author's Response:

You're right to think there are clues to this story's outcome in Shrink Act Files. Unfortunately, for now I can't comment on whether your theory is right or wrong.

I didn't dare exhale until they were all back inside the walls. Typically, when a character has a plan-altering idea like the Jack's while the plan is already under way, there's a cost associated with not having voiced the idea from the start.  In this case, it would have been Julia returning to her room ahead of schedule and spotting them before they could reach safety.

In this genre, "waiting for the other shoe to drop" takes on a whole new meaning.

Author's Response:

I appreciate your thought about the flow of the narrative with regard to characters changing plans - I was hoping to unnecessarily worry some people with that expectation, though wasn't sure how much it came across. Sometimes making you think the monster is coming is worse than making the monster come. Of course, this story still has a fairly full climax to come, and there's plenty of room left for multiple shoes to drop.

If they do all get through this, they'll need extensive rehab and therapy for PTSD. If there is an epilogue where they get out normal sized, I'd suggest looking up symptoms of PTSD and experiences of trauma survivors.

Author's Response:

PTSD is probably the most optimistic thing they could get out of this, aside from "squished painlessly."

OH FUCK YES.

But... Knowing you, you're probably going to throw us another curveball. If everything does go down the way the gang hopes, I'm one for hardcore torture on Julia. Of course, knowing exactly how psychotic she is, if their plan goes through, her own psychotic breakdown during her defeat will be torture enough.

Author's Response:

I'm probably spoiling precisely nothing by saying there are several curveballs, good and bad, still to come before this story is through. Thanks for reading!
