So this is the story whose title I saw on the forums. Oppression via race constructs can add some sparks to the story, given that hidden meanings don't exist.

Uh-oh! this doesn't bode well.

Didn't the Food of the Gods cause gigantism in anyone/thing that ate it?

Author's Response:

Food of the Gods in this sense isn't related to the H.G. Wells story, in this case she was referring to the normal-sized people as "gods" and the shrunken people as the food of the gods. It has a completely different context and meaning.

Looks like their fears were justified.

Interesting parallel to the anti-Vietnam War protests of the 1960's. I was in grammar school at the height of those things. So, even I have to watch old news footage of those things to imagine what the times were like (for slightly older Baby-boomers), back then.

Hmmmmmmm! I wonder what Timescribe would think of that ecclesiastical re-interpretation?

Just one slight correction.

The term is "homes," not "holmes." As in "homeboy" (the ebonic equivalent of the Italian term, "paisano").

Author's Response:

I've always heard it as "holmes"

To paraphrase an old joke:

"Do you know Crystal Mae?"

"No! But, thanks for the tip."

So far/so good. No verbal abuse from other reviewers.

I know you're trying to present a counterpoint to "Conquistadora," dude. But, I don't think anyone else will see it that way. They might choose to remain non-reviewing lurkers out of political correctness. Unless, of course, some of them read this, out of morbid curiosity, and arouse awareness of it via controversially flaming my opinion. :-(

Author's Response:

Actually, I wrote this story first, back in 2007. Conquistadora was written in 2010.
