Interesting and well-written. You do good world building in a very natural way. The characters seemed a bit muted - is Charles really so jaded to violence to barely react to people being eaten? Is this a commentary on capitalism?

From a smut angle, I’d love to read Charles suggest horribly cruel yet practical ideas for Clara to implement.
